The Curefest celebrations are almost here. Curefest, the three-night celebration of Jah Cure's release, will be held this weekend October 12 to 14. Preparations have been made and according to promoter Delmar Drummond of Danger Promotions, plans are going well.
"There is a big buzz on the street about the event. Both fans and artistes are enthusiastic to be a part of Jah Cure's return. We have been getting a lot of calls from prospective patrons, as well as from persons who want to be a part of the event," said Drummond, who on Tuesday denied a British newspaper report that Jah Cure - being a former convict - has been banned from performing at several concerts in the United Kingdom.
Numerous artistes have also been confirmed for the show including Capleton, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, Ce'Cile and others.
"I highly anticipate performing at Curefest and I can't wait to finally see Jah Cure in full flight. Jah Cure's fans have been waiting a long time for him to perform for them and I think the show will be a big success and the fans will be left satisfied," said female artiste Ce'Cile.
"It's a great joy to work on a show of such magnitude. The people have been waiting a long time and I feel privileged to be able to share in their celebration with the man Jah Cure," Lutan Fyah added.
Some fans who have waited for the last minute to make arrangements to attend Curefest will discover it somewhat difficult to find accommodations near the venue at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium as hoteliers are reporting that the many fans that will be attending the events have reserved most of their rooms. However, there are still rooms available at other hotels not so close to the venue, but fans need to hurry.
"Hotels in Trelawny are booked up, we as the promoters can't even find a place to stay," noted Delmar Drummond Danger Zone Promotions, Brass Gate Promotions and Iyah Cure promotions are promising fans a world-class event and have been working hard to ensure that all the contingencies are in place to ensure the fans are comfortable. At the Multi-Purpose Stadium ample parking and security will be provided so fans can feel secure and can enjoy the show. "We have received a lot of support from the Trelawny police and health department and the surrounding community has been very supportive. Ticket sales online (mostly overseas) are going well and local ticket outlets are also doing good business. We also have International media like Vibe Magazine, LA Times, and Billboard coming to cover the event as well as our local media houses," said Delmar Drummond.
At 'Reflections', the All-White Birth-Night Party on Friday, October 12 hosted by Jah Cure at the Starfish Trelawny Hotel, the promoters have put in place a bar so there can be full enjoyment while listening to the sweet sounds of Etana and others. 45 Cure's, the 'selector spin-off' at Pier 1 in Montego Bay with Sound System Selectors vs Radio DJ's hosted by MC Nuffy on October 13, will be another treat and promises not to disappoint. The weekend will be topped off with the 'Longing For' concert at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on October 14 featuring Jah Cure and his celebrity friends with MC's: Ron Mushette, Elise Kelly, GT Taylor, Richie B, Big A & DJ Squeeze.
Fans need to wait no longer to see Jah Cure as he will finally be performing live this weekend. "Curefest will showcase positive cultural and dancehall artistes, bringing a higher level of consciousness to Jamaica. The west will be mesmerised," said Drummond.
