Royale Computers expands for '08

In an effort to expand its high-end device offerings, local electronics chain Royale Computers has opened a new location.

"Royale PC & Electronics Limited is a high-end electronics store. we stock an array of new type LCDs (flat screen televisions), hot game titles and a lot of other great high-end stuff," shared store manager Kevin Stewart of the new store located in Tropical Plaza, Half-Way-Tree.

Thursday Life Tech visited the store on Christmas Eve to see the shoppers busying themselves inside the new store.
"I just got an MP4, so I found [the new store] quite convenient, and the prices are comfortable too," said shopper Andrea King.

But with two locations in the Pavilion Mall, what makes this branch different?

Kevin Stewart (left), Royale Computers manager, explains to a customer the concept of the new store.

"Parking is a problem in Pavilion," said Stewart, adding that "now it's easier for people to get parking spaces here (at Tropical Plaza)."

The location, Stewart said, is likely to attract more high-end customers since, "the store is much bigger".

"Over here we have the space so it's easier for us to display the larger items like some of the bigger computer models and the TVs," said Stewart, pointing to the wall on which the LCDs are mounted. Royale PC & Electronics Ltd carries the complete line of BOSE systems - which feature surround sound technology - as well as Toshiba, Sony and Samsung brands of LCDs.

The store, which opened two weeks ago, is gaining new clientele, albeit slowly, Stewart said.

"The response from shoppers has been good, but people didn't know about it really. We're hoping that it'll pick up next year."

Adding to his comments, Stewart informed Thursday Life Tech that, like the Pavilion branches, the Tropical Plaza branch also orders items (via the Internet) not on the shelves.
"If you really need it, we'll source it for you," quipped Stewart.
