As the police continue their drive to enact the Night Noise Abatement Act by locking off dancehall sessions at 2:00 am on weekends, promoter Sizzla Kalonji has announced that his event, scheduled for Saturday at Temple Hall, will start by 7:00 pm and end at 2:00 am sharp.
"Kalonji Music urges all to come early to celebrate Sizzla Kalonji Earthstrong celebrating his 32nd Birthday," a release stated.
Tomorrow's bash, dubbed Rise to the Occasion, has a roster comprising over 40 acts including Sizzla Kalonji alongside music contemporaries like Stephen Marley, Jr Gong, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Spragga Benz, Anthony B, Queen Ifrika, Mavado, Chuck Fenda, Tarrus Riley, Jah Cure, Luciano, Sanchez, Elephant Man, Sugar Minnott, Vybz Kartel, Richi Spice, Busy Signal, Lady Saw, Etana, Erup, Junie Platinum, Voicemail, Gyptian, Turbulance, Assasin, Marcia Griffiths, Natural Black, Spice, Bascom X, Monster Empire, Lady G, Louie Culture and LUST.
Acccording to the release, this year's Earthstrong is a reflection of the successes and accomplishments in April 2007- April 2008 for Sizzla Kalonji and Kalonji Music Ltd. On the heels of Koch/DDMG/Kalonji Record's Overstanding Album, four albums were released. These include Children of Jah with PNR Label, I-Space (Greensleeves), Rastafari (Penitentiary), and Addicted (LGN Entertainment).
A number of great songs, the release continued, were also released this year, including some international collaborations. Kalonji's single with Lil Wayne, Reasons, has been on rotation on radio, television and internet internationally. A historic collaboration manifested between Paul McCartney of the Beatles, Sizzla, Lady Saw, and Cherine Anderson entitled Nod Your Head produced by Sly and Robbie. Other prolific collabs include Sizzla, Shaggy, and Collie Budz with Mad; Sizzla and Ini Kamoze and most recent, Sizzla and Tarrus Riley.
Other projects for the year include Riddims featuring Judgement Yard artistes and other reggae acts. Sizlzla's European tour will commence in May with the Fire House Band.
