Red Rat. I'm doing crazy work with a lot of people

If you've been wondering just what has become of deejay Red Rat and are tempted to think that his career is on an extended pause, or worse "Nutten nah gwaan fi him," then you couldn't be more wrong.

As Red Rat himself would say Oh no. That's not the case. In fact, it's the complete opposite. One of the hottest dancehall deejays of the late '90s, these days Red Rat can be found in Miami, Florida, where he is working on some 'crazy' projects with international artistes and producers.

For the past six months, the colourful deejay, known for his comical flair, has been putting the finishing touches to a single on which he collaborated with American diva, Janet Jackson.

"Actually, I just finished doing a song with Janet Jackson which will be my next single," Red Rat disclosed when Splash caught up with him in Fort Lauderdale recently.
"The song with Janet Jackson is called This Can't Be Good. It suppose to be the second single of her album, so wi a cross wi fingers and wi toes yuh nuh," the ever exciting and positive-thinking Red Rat said.

With his sense of purpose and the right attitude to take his career to another level, it is appropriate to declare, even if in layman's terms, that Red Rat, "is gone to the world". But let him speak for himself. "Ah mean, I'm doing crazy work with a lot of people, mi a work with Blackout Movements, they are the ones that produced This Is Why I'm Hot. Mi a work with some new producers that is working LL Cool J's album, mi a try get inna di system yu kno weh a mean. Mi ave some new singles weh mi waan drop a Jamaica too. Yeah mon, yu dun kno, double R (RR) Records, Red Rat in di place."

For the uninitiated, Blackout Movements is a recording outfit with a team of record producers based in Miami, Florida, to which at this time a few major international acts have hitched their careers. Among them are Ja Rule, Funkmaster Flex, Jin, Jim Jones, Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, Pitbull, Bun B, Teairra Marie and Mr Vegas.

"Our goal is to create a new sound never heard before in music. Our life is music. Our music is a movement - The Blackout Movement," states the website of the company famous for Mim's big hit, This Is Why I'm Hot.

"I've been here for some six/seven months working on some major projects, finishing my album that set fi drop hopefully in the summer. I'm trying to get myself on some international projects with international artistes. Mi a try take mi career to the next level. Mi nuh think I can get much bigger in Jamaica, so mi a expand to the world now," added the deejay born Wallace Wilson and well known for hits such as Shelly-Ann, Nuh Live Nuh Weh, Tight Up Skirt, If Gal Waan Try, Which Gal, Charlene, Italee, Wrigley's, Dwayne, Gangsta Youths, Oh No, I'm Big Kid Now, to mention a few.
