| Rootz Underground... set to launch debut album at Bandshell (beside Hope Gardens) |
Kingston-based reggae rock band Rootz Underground is set to launch their debut album, tonight, at Bandshell (beside Hope Gardens).
"As everything for our launch falls into place we can't help but feel really excited to deliver the performance we've been designing for our fans," band member Colin Young tells the Observer.
"The journey we've been so far has been filled with constant blessings even when it doesn't appear that way at the outset," adds lead singer Steve Newland. "Our most major blessing has been the support of first our friends who gave us the energy to push it this far.... which in a way is just the beginning."
He adds, too, that the band promises to step the production up a notch in its drive to consistently push the limits and bring a "stronger musical force."
The band, established in 2000, has created an islandwide buzz, but has ruled the underground rock scene in Kingston - playing venues like Red Bones and Village Café. The album entitled Movement features 19 tracks including the popular single Victims Of The System. The album credits Chalice's Wayne Armond; saxaphonist Dean Fraser and 'Bobby Digital' among those who assisted in its production.
