Caribbean Model Search unveils Sunday

Friday, September 05, 2008

Nell Robinson is an alumni of Caribbean Model Search.

There will be no room for nerves or awkward shuffles come this Sunday, as aspiring models take to the runway to execute perhaps the most important 'walk' of their lives. Culminating their year-long search for the nation's best bodies and fiercest faces, Pulse will reveal its top picks at their Caribbean Model Search (CMS) show, this Sunday at the Hilton Kingston Hotel.

Currently undergoing their final rounds of rehearsals and photo shoots, not even the gale winds of Gustav, or the impending rains of Hanna, could dampen the spirits of the young hopefuls as they inch closer towards the big day. Excitement is at fever pitch as dreams of exclusive contracts and international stardom dance over their heads.

The perfect end to a hot and fashionable summer, some 70 contestants will be on show to vie for the Jamaica Fashion Model, Male Face of Jamaica and Petite Jamaica Fashion Model titles while rocking the designs of local savants Mutamba, Keneea Linton, Minka, Lubica, Moncrieffe and Biggy. The winners will go on to compete against other regional winners of CMS for the grand title.

In addition to the superlative fashion show, CMS LIVE producers, Pulse Investments, have also promised a stellar entertainment package featuring performances by dancehall artistes who are themselves fashion connoisseurs - the energy god Elephant Man and dancehall's fashion queen D'Angel. Dancehall act Bling Dawg is also expected to grace the CMS LIVE stage. Billed as the "ultimate collision of high fashion and dancehall flavour", this unique fusion is expected to be a spectacular night of glamour, high style and a celebration of Jamaica's popular culture. 2007 CMS winners Latesha Coleman - Jamaica Fashion Model; Alvin Larman - Male Face of Jamaica; Nsombi Watson - Petite Jamaica Fashion Model and Rochelle Notice - CMS Reality TV are also scheduled to make appearances.

Latesha Coleman was one of the 2007 Caribbean Model Search winners, copping the title Jamaica Fashion Model.

Over its 30-year history, Caribbean Model Search has produced some of the best names in the fashion industry including Lois Samuels, Angela Neil, Jheanell Azan, Lincoln Wynter, Gaye McDonald, Nell Robinson, Sunna Gottshalk and Jeneil Williams.

Fans of fashion and beauty can also watch out for the upcoming CMS TV reality series. Now in its third season, the CMS Reality TV show projects a whirlwind of drama and excitement mixed with glamour as finalists are eliminated through a series of fashion challenges to become the next CMS Reality Star.
