Azure waters, uber hot bodies and picturesque glimpses of the good life have formed the backdrop to some of our best-loved movies. There's no way SO could include every frame (for surely that would take the whole magazine and then some), so we have stylishly narrowed down our look at the beach on film.

Cutie-pie Mickey Mouse Club face-cum-1960s teen icon Annette Funicello with Frankie Avalon and the gang introduced the beach movie genre to audiences. and Hollywood has not looked back since.

The American thriller Jaws is definitively the ultimate scary beach movie. Yes, there's just something about watching the frenzy among beachgoers as a giant great white enjoys a snack.

Fishin' Around?
In 2003 moviegoers fell in love with the story of a clown fish in search of his missing son. Finding Nemo is a heartfelt animated film that kept us laughing (or dare we suggest crying?) and gave us an imaginative look at life in the Australian waters.
Ahoy Beach!
With a name like Pirates Of The Caribbean it figures that the movie includes postcard-perfect beach scenes. Here, Captain Jack Sparrow (the Mick Jagger of pirates played by Johnny Depp) is being chased by tribesmen in a scene from the film.

A remote island, a ball for a best friend and a beach to die for are the trappings of Castaway. The movie stars Hollywood leading man Tom Hanks and nearly all of it takes place on the beach.
