Azure waters, uber hot bodies and picturesque glimpses of the good life have formed the backdrop to some of our best-loved movies. There's no way SO could include every frame (for surely that would take the whole magazine and then some), so we have stylishly narrowed down our look at the beach on film.

Jinxed!
She might have won an Oscar for her role in Monster's Ball, but it's Halle Berry's Bond-girl body that's heating up our pages this week. For who could forget Jinx - from the Bond flick Die Another Day - in that tantalising tangerine bikini as she sashayed out of the water?

Beach Party
Cutie-pie Mickey Mouse Club face-cum-1960s teen icon Annette Funicello with Frankie Avalon and the gang introduced the beach movie genre to audiences. and Hollywood has not looked back since.

Got Jaws!
The American thriller Jaws is definitively the ultimate scary beach movie. Yes, there's just something about watching the frenzy among beachgoers as a giant great white enjoys a snack.

Surf's Up!
His Matrix days far ahead, Keanu Reeves - opposite Patrick Swayze - starred as Johnny Utah in the surfer-crime drama that spoke to the nuances of friendship.it didn't hurt that all of this unfolded by the gorgeous California beachside.

Honey dipping
Long before Jinx wowed with her sun-kissed skin and washboard abs, the sweetly naïve and beautiful island girl Honey Rider (played by Ursula Andress) of Dr No kept things beach-sexy in the first ever James Bond flick. naturally it was filmed at a location that boasts some of the most idyllic beaches - Jamrock!

The Beach Life
Just three years after the Oscar-grabbing Titanic, leading man Leonardo DiCaprio hit the high seas once again in the 2000-released movie The Beach, which explores man's perpetual quest for the ideal and how it can all go horribly wrong.

Vice Grip
Generation Now know Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx as the stars of Miami Vice, but we're harking back to the small-screen years when Don Johnson (left) and Phillip Michael Thomas co-starred as the two Metro-Dade Police officers. Crime fighting has never been so sexy. it always included the waterfront, beautiful women and loads of action.

Under The Sea
In 1989 Disney invested US$40 million to bring the story of a mermaid named Ariel and her aquatic friends to the big screen. The result? A worldwide cult classic known as The Little Mermaid that raked in over $183 million, memorable songs by some of contemporary music's greatest composers, spin-off series and a smash hit Broadway musical.

Fishin' Around?
In 2003 moviegoers fell in love with the story of a clown fish in search of his missing son. Finding Nemo is a heartfelt animated film that kept us laughing (or dare we suggest crying?) and gave us an imaginative look at life in the Australian waters.

Ahoy Beach!
With a name like Pirates Of The Caribbean it figures that the movie includes postcard-perfect beach scenes. Here, Captain Jack Sparrow (the Mick Jagger of pirates played by Johnny Depp) is being chased by tribesmen in a scene from the film.

Making A Splash
Splash is the story of a trusting mermaid (played by Daryl Hannah) who falls for a human. It's got lots of beach action and creates history as the first film to be released by Touchstone Films.

Baywatching
Yes, there was always drama on Baywatch but it's wet CJ Parker (played by Pamela Anderson) running on the beach that the guys loved most.

Castaway
A remote island, a ball for a best friend and a beach to die for are the trappings of Castaway. The movie stars Hollywood leading man Tom Hanks and nearly all of it takes place on the beach.

Monkey Business
Planet Of The Apes explores the devolution of mankind and serves up us some idyllic beaches.
