Michelle Obama and 30 schoolchildren settle down for a picnic
The amount of sweet potatoes harvested at the White House Thursday could feed
an army, Michelle Obama observed.

Sadly, there was none to spare for the horde of photographers on hand to document the efforts of the first lady and 30 schoolchildren as they pulled 223 pounds of vegetables from the garden on the South Lawn.
Cupboards at a soup kitchen near the White House will be spilling over for several days after a donation of the fresh produce harvested Thursday from Mrs Obama's vegetable garden.
The first lady invited about 30 fifth-graders from two District of Columbia public elementary schools to help with the project. One of the schools, Bancroft Elementary, has helped with the garden since it began, preparing the soil, planting the crops and harvesting in the spring.
"Are you guys ready to do some work? Are you ready to work really hard? Are you ready to get dirty?" she asked them. "All right,
let's go!"

Super cool David leads the way

She's used to being the centre of attention but Thursday Madonna was most definitely upstaged - by her adopted son David.
The four-year-old stole the spotlight with his super-cool attire - including a cartoon T-shirt, his mother's Dior sunglasses and a newly acquired woven man-bag - as the singer's family toured a child care centre in Malawi.
And he had the attitude to match, cheekily sticking his tongue out while playing up for the cameras. So it was little wonder that when he paid a visit to his orphanage, the Home Child Care Centre in Mchinji earlier this week, few recognised him.
"He is so boisterous! I can't believe he is the same chap of 2006," the orphanage founder Thomson

'I don't want to rely
on airbrushing'
Victoria Beckham has revealed how she keeps her tiny figure in shape - she works out EVERY day.
The fashion designer hits the gym seven days a week so that she doesn't need airbrushing in magazine pictures.
This may come as a surprise to some fans - photos of her posing for Armani with husband David Beckham were widely believed to have been enhanced.

Taylor Swift in racism row after posing with fan
Country singer Taylor Swift has been forced to dismiss claims she is a racist after being photographed with her arm around a man wearing a swastika on his T-shirt.
Taylor, 17, was pictured with a man at the party of pop star Katy Perry which took place on
the weekend.
Katy had asked all her guests to dress in white for the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory-themed party at restaurant The Beach On Sunset in West Hollywood.
And it seems that one guest took their customising
a little too far.
