Let's recap, NYBR #1 - Detox and #2 - Commit. Now that we have cleansed through detoxification of Body, Skin and Mind; and we've made the commitment to be LOVELY (Lifestyle, Overcome, Volunteer, Educate, Lean, Youthful), the next step is to Renew.

The beginning of the year is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate yourself. I believe that it is never too late to start looking and feeling your best. Please don't feel any pressure during this journey, after all, it is your choice to make. Let's take it step by step. Six steps, to be precise:

1. Sleep - Without a doubt, getting 8 hrs of sleep per day is the first step to a renewed you. Your skin rejuvenates itself at night during restful slumber. Always sleep with a night cream. I recommend the C Renewal Continuous Care.

Culprits: Late eating, noisy environment, wrong temperature, uncomfortable bed, worrying.

Saving graces: Warm caffeine-free drinks, soothing scents, light sleepwear, soft sounds, darkness.

My picks: Jasmine tea, cool breeze, lavender bubble bath, cottonwear, silence, eye sleep mask.

2. Move - Keep your body in its best form through motion. We find time to do everything else; take 30 mins per day to exercise. The key is to find what works for you. There are several options. For me, I function well alone, at home.

Culprits: Making excuses, shame, laziness, over-eating, family genes.

Saving graces: Group workshops, exercise DVDs, home gym, sports.

My picks: Tracey Anderson method, treadmill at home, jump rope.

3. Spa - Find a professional aesthetician who understands your skin and its needs. Good skin makes you look and feel exceptional. Schedule monthly treatments for face and body.

Culprits: Harsh soaps, large-grain scrubs, over-the-counter products, cellulite.

Saving graces: Facial consultation, body analysis, home care retail.

My picks: Facial resurfacing peel, lymphatic drainage body massage, micro-dermabrasion face mask, full body peel and slimming wrap.

4. Eat - Many of us tend to forget that we have kitchens and great fresh foods to create fabulous meals. Instead we focus on fast foods and slowly damage our health. Try to cook three times a week and warm up leftovers.

Culprits: Fried foods, simple carbs, excess calories, stress.

Saving graces: Organic foods, vegetables, fruits, vitamin supplements, cookbooks.

My picks: Sushi, whole grains, light vegetable soups.

5. Love - Take time to nurture love, in all aspects of your life. Spiritual is as important as sexual.

Culprits: Insecurity, mistrust, dishonesty, loneliness.

Saving graces: Prayer groups, family gatherings, children, best friends, vacations.

My picks: Family celebrations, pasta and red wine nights, weekend getaways to Negril.

6. Learn - Continuous education is the key to being your best self. New innovations and ideas are available for us to improve our lives.

Culprits: Complacency, over-work, indiscipline.

Saving graces: Talk shows, inspirational books, mentors, mental stimulating games, Internet.

My picks: Dr Oz, Robin Sharma books, Suduko, Alliance Francaise.

Renew yourself; it's the one thing you can do, any time you wish.
