The golden goatee!
People Post
Sunday, January 15, 2012
He's known for being the fastest man on the planet, but what will Usain Bolt's coach say when he sees the sprint star's latest style statement - a golden goatee in the mould of Virgin chief Richard Branson? With that much additional facial hair, the 25-year-old triple Olympic Gold medallist is unlikely to match, let alone beat his record-breaking 9.58-second 100m world record. But the distinctive blonde beard hasn't done 61-year-old Virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson any harm in his bid to become one of the fastest internet providers on the planet. In fact, over the years his well-trimmed facial fur has become his trademark, alongside his love of adventure sports. The two met up in the sprint star's hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, after he agreed to front the communication firm's multimillion-pound campaign to promote its super-fast broadband service. And as part of filming for the TV ads, the 'Lightning Bolt' dressed up as the media giant. A source on the set for filming said: "Usain was great fun to be around - he kept the whole crew laughing between takes by showing off his break-dancing and robot dance moves. He even took the whole crew to his own Tracks & Records restaurant one night and treated them all to dinner. Sir Richard and Usain really hit it off. There was a lot of mutual respect for what they have both achieved." The TV ad shows Bolt in a tongue-in-cheek attempt to impersonate Branson by taking over his office and donning his trademark blonde goatee, and features the athlete sitting in Branson's office and trying to persuade the public that he is the Virgin boss. Despite wearing a Branson-esque blonde goatee beard, his efforts are interrupted when the real Branson appears and demands that Bolt leave. The ad ends with Bolt pulling his famous 'To Di World' lightning pose and waggling his finger at the firm's web address.
