The Elders Gathering, to be held from July 29-31 in Lincoln, Vermont, USA, is a multicultural celebration of indigenous people of many nations coming together to pray for peace and prosperity.
The theme is: "Manifesting Clear Intention in Multidimensional Realms". The event will also feature a celebration of rituals as the elders share insights on how to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds in an effort to plant seeds of good relationship and skilful methods for living in harmony.
"The occasion is a coming together of people of different cultures to share ideas, to pray together and to listen to the elders talk about ancient spiritual teachings and prophecies that will prepare us for the challenges in the years ahead and to see how we can use this knowledge to contribute to world peace at this time," said Simms, a social worker.
She said she would be representing all Jamaica, not just Rastafarians and Maroons, but even Christians as well. "I'm representing the entire Jamaican nation. I'll be involved in rituals and workshops," said Simms,
As a social worker, her areas of interest are conflict resolution, community empowerment, environmental justice and human rights.
