Preparing for the Big Day
BRINGING THE SPA HOME

As the big day gets closer and closer, all the many months of hard work starts to pay off as everything begins to fall in place. Who knew that the organisation of a wedding would take so much of your time and energy? But this is your special day and you want everything to be perfect. As you busily make your preparations, remember that the most important preparations need to be for you -- the bride.

We all want to look and feel our best for the occasion so diet and exercise should be started as soon as possible, especially if you want to lose a few pounds and get in shape. This is a great time to get fit and healthy as what better incentive could there be - we all want to look fabulous on our wedding day. Crash diets are not a good idea but healthy eating and a good exercise plan that fits in well with your lifestyle should do the trick. In fact, why not plan for both you and your fiancé to eat well and exercise together!

Once you have found the perfect wedding dress it's time to consult your hairstylist to decide on a style that will complement you to the fullest and work well with your "look". It's a good idea to take your head-dress and maybe your gown to your stylist to help in making your decision. You may find that you need to experiment with a few styles before you choose one that best suits you. It's a good idea that you stay with the stylist that knows your hair best as last-minute changes could prove to be a disaster. Also, discuss with your stylist the best time for cutting, colouring or hair processing in order to have your hair in perfect condition. Plan to work in some deep conditioning treatments in the months leading up to the big day.

Now is a good time to start having regular manicure and pedicures to ensure that your hands and feet look their best. Your nail technician will help you work out the best nail look, as your left hand will be the focus of attention as everyone admires your ring.

If you don't feel confident applying your own makeup then you should consider having a professional make-up artiste do it for you. Make sure to use waterproof mascara to avoid black streaks if the weather is very hot or you get weepy during the ceremony or reception.

Mineral make-up will give you a natural glowing look.

Regular body exfoliations will keep your skin looking clean and soft. These can either be done at home in your shower or at a spa of your choice.

A monthly facial will ensure a clear complexion and healthy-looking skin. Your aesthetician will advise you when to have your final facial. Stick with facial products you know and trust to avoid allergic reactions and breakouts.

If you plan to have your eyebrows plucked or waxed, please ensure you visit an experienced professional, as the last thing you need is to end up with uneven eyebrows or worse still, burnt skin. Have a few eyebrows shaping in advance to establish the shape that best suits your face. A few days before your wedding have a final shaping.

Why not plan to treat yourself to a day at the spa just before your wedding, even though this is a very exciting time it can also be stressful. Maybe you want to go with your bridal party. Most spas will be happy to give a group discount and it's also a great time to have fun together.

The night before your wedding watch your alcohol intake and drink lots of water. And though you may be very excited, plan to go to bed at a reasonable time to ensure you have a good night's sleep so you wake up refreshed and glowing for your special day.

Spa Elder Tip

Getting yourself mentally ready for one of the biggest days of your life needs as much preparation as all the details you've so meticulously planned. Be sure to have some time alone to appreciate the journey you are about to take and more importantly, what you mean to each other.
