MiPhone says it's not for sale
Observer Business Reporter
Wednesday, February 23, 2005

Oceanic Digital Jamaica, which trades as MiPhone, has said that it has no plans or intention to sell, contrary to an advertisement that appeared in the newspaper over the weekend.

In a statement issued on Monday, Oceanic said the advertisement that appeared for "the impending sale of a Jamaican cellular phone company, was in reference to Freepaid Cellular, which is located in the Sovereign Shopping Center in Liguanea and is currently a sales agent for Oceanic Digital Jamaica Ltd".

"MiPhone stresses that the sale of this business entity by the owners of Freepaid Cellular will in no way impact on the continued delivery of quality network services to our customers, nor will it impact on the ability of MiPhone to deliver services to Freepaid's customer base."

MiPhone said that Freepaid customers could continue purchasing its recharge cards to top up their mobile accounts. This arrangement, the company said, would not change.
