Digicel adds 171 customer care agents
Observer Business Reporter
Friday, March 11, 2005

Cellular service provider Digicel Jamaica has added 171 employees to its customer care department, the result, the company says, of its increased customer base and the continuous introduction of more technologically-advanced products on the market.

The company says that the new staff members were added over the past four months, increasing the staff complement of its customer care department to 466, representing 47 per cent of the 1,000 employees.

"The main focus of the company [Digicel] is on customer experience," said Digicel customer care director Fiona McGloin in a press statement. "We look to improvements that will benefit the customer or at the very least not disrupt them."

Digicel now has an estimated 1.3 million customers, a 33 per cent increase over the past year, making it significantly larger than Cable & Wireless, which reportedly has just over 700,000 cellular customers.
