"This was a unique business opportunity for us because it is the very first time that such a facility was being opened in Jamaica," said Henry Pratt, general manager at Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank.
"We are particularly happy to have collaborated with our parent company in getting this company to invest in Jamaica. The project will address a specialised need for high-end and high net worth visitors to the island." Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank's parent company is Sagicor, a Barbadian financial and insurance conglomerate.
International Aircraft Management Inc operates a private jet centre at the Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados. The company has been providing logistical support services to private and corporate aircraft, their premium passengers and crew, for over 17 years at 48 airports across the Caribbean.
Its services cover a range of areas, including flight planning, passenger and crew arrival/departure processing, ground transportation, premium catering, fuel sales and concierge assistance. The company is arguably one of the largest brokers of jet fuel for corporate/private aircraft in the Caribbean with wholesale process from Exxon Mobil, Shell and Chevron Texaco.
The centre at the Sangster Airport is equipped with its own customs and immigration areas as well as a meeting and conference area ideal for business clients.
It was officially opened by the minister of transport and works, Robert Pickersgill; mayor of Montego Bay Noel Donaldson; and principals of the jet centre, Paul Worrell and Heather Wiltshire.
