Stevie Face has big plans for Take Me Away

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Singer Stevie Face is anticipating his Take Me Away debut on Sunday at the Cable And Wireless Golf Academy in New Kingston.

Stevie Face... I definitely plan to take my fans and potential fans on a musical journey

"I definitely plan to take my fans and potential fans on a musical journey to a place they have never been before," a jovial Stevie Face declared.

Not one to brag and sing his own praises, the soft-spoken singer seemed in the mood to make promises. "Knowing the calibre of show that Take Me Away is, it will be up to me to ensure that I am at my impressive best and I will be," the singer stated.

Still making waves with his cover of the 1966 Aaron Neville hit, Tell It Like It Is - a song which briskly climbed local and international charts late last year - Stevie Face has been working on follow-up singles with his Boot Camp producer/manager Computer Paul.

Born Anwar Hanchard, Stevie Face was schooled in the music from an early age by listening to reggae's great forbears like Jacob Miller and Dennis Brown. After lifting his voice as a member of church, primary and high school choirs, his love for music and unquestionable vocal skills inevitably locked him into a musical career. Since his debut performance at a major reggae event in 1996, Stevie Face has ignited a musical flame that continues to burn increasingly brighter.

With the release of his first major single Teach The Children in 1997 the musical world began to take notice. Since them he has dominated the radio airwaves across Jamaica release after release and met chart success early 2001 with the international hit I'm In Love. This chartbuster spent 17 weeks in the top ten and reached the number 3 position in Jamaica, number 8 in New York, number 5 in France.

An excellent stage performer, Stevie Face will take any audience to a musical high. Other acts slated to perform on Take Me Away are Ken Boothe, Leroy Sibbles, Gregory Isaacs, Stevie Face, Gem Myers, LUST and the promoter himself, Richie Stephens.

Staging under the theme 'Real Mistas Stand up For Sistas' the show will be held at the Cable & Wireless Golf Academy on Sunday, April 26.
