The company will be responsible for the re-release of the artiste's extensive catalogue including the Grammy-winning True Love and Grammy-nominated Light Your Life. Tads will also oversee new releases including a new version of Toots' classic 54-46 hit featuring young rapper Slo-Mo with video directed by Ras Kassa and Stinga 1 and a Maytals' mixed tape CD featuring 24of the group's biggest hits.
According to Tad Dawkins Sr, CEO of Tads Records, "We are very excited about this deal with D&F Music and the opportunity to represent a major artiste like Toots and the Maytals."
With an annual touring schedule that takes him into North America and Europe, fans around the world never tire of experiencing Toots live and testify about their Reggae baptism received at the hands of one of Reggae music's living legends.
In a recent review of Toots' sold-out Hollywood Bowl performance, the LA Times stated, "Dressed in a white vest, pants and headband and a black shirt, Toots looked and sounded as robust as ever. Fist-bumping and glad-handing, he led off with Pressure Drop and never let up with his soaring, muscular vocals and infectiously good-natured enthusiasm. For several numbers he picked up an acoustic guitar and strummed along. On the bluesy cri de coeur Treat Me Good he blew harmonica vehemently between lyrics. Several times toward the end of a song, he and his excellent bandmates whipped up the beat into a frothy ska tempo, proving that laid-back reggae can rock out when it pleases. (The gesture worked especially well on a revved-up version of Funky Kingston.)"
In between touring, Toots is in studio working on his next album release, scheduled for January 2010. Fans can keep up with Toots' latest releases and tour dates, as well as download songs online on the artiste's official website.
