Watch for these Sizzling summer shows
BY Dwayne Patterson Observer TEENage writer Campion College
Tuesday, May 06, 2008

The summertime is upon us and what more entertaining way to escape those hot days than to sit back and enjoy a movie. Here's a list of blockbusters to help you do just that:

Iron Man - May 2

Prince Caspian hopes to regain his throne in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Comic book superheroes are the new 'talking animals' of the movie industry nowadays. Following that, Iron Man, which opened last week Friday, shows how genius, shiny armour, war, a scotch and the sexiest Audi ever equal one great superhero.

Speed Racer - May 9

Old cartoon heroes make an appearance this summer, as well. Speed Racer zips through a futuristic speedway to save his family's business and the racing community that he loves so much - all in the memory of his lost brother. Watch Speed shift gears in the Mach 5 as the crowd yells "GO! Speed Racer GO!"

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - May 16

The wait for the sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will come to an end this year. The second instalment sees the four Pevensie children return to Narnia, only to discover that hundreds of years have passed since they ruled there, and the evil King Miraz has taken charge.

Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - May 22

He's back! and old.-er. Not to be outdone by all these youngsters in their gleaming suits and cars, Indy breaks out the whip for another adventure. What's the treasure this time? It's a lost skull that belongs in a lost city. Why do treasure hunters like Harrison Ford and Shia Labeouf never think these things should stay lost?

Kung Fu Panda - June 6

Wow, you know those movies where the story just comes out of no where and hits you for six? Falling into that category, Kung Fu Panda is a story about a lazy slacker panda bear (yes, talking animals, again), who finally gets to live out his dream and become a kung fu master to fulfill 'the prophecy'. Can this panda join the ranks of his heroes Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey, or will his shortcomings be too much to overcome?

The Incredible Hulk - June 13

He's mean, green and we love him when he gets angry. The sequel to the SMASHING box office hit Hulk, has someone new playing the role of the Hulk's paler alter ego Bruce Banner. The good doctor is still trying to find a cure for the monster he hides within so he can finally be reunited with his true love. But is he about to discover that the Hulk might be too big a skeleton to lock away in the closet forever?

Wall-E - June 27

Now this movie falls under the classification of 'Awww, it's so cute'. From the makers of Finding Nemo and Cars, Wall-E, another CG film from Pixar, is the story of the last robot left on an abandoned Earth and his search for companionship. Yes, robots get lonely, too. But what will happen when he meets a 'female' robot by the name of EVE sent down from the humans in space and follows her when she has to leave?

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army - July 11

We're beginning to think that the silver screen has a thing for huge, manlike monsters with bright-coloured skin. Hellboy leaps in to try and make another box office hit fighting more of those creepy crawlers of the night. Will this be as much of a hit as the last? With some mention of an unstoppable golden army that he has to fight, I'll give it a chance.

Batman: The Dark Knight - July 18

The caped avenger returns to the streets of Gotham City to finish the job that he started to - remove crime and corruption from his home.

Helping him make a difference are the trusty Lt James Gordon and a district attorney Harvey Dent. But is the big bad bat ready to face the Joker's unnerving smile, or will his homicidal brand of comedy push him too far? This movie was also the last film for Heath Ledger, so for all those fans who miss him and mourned his death, this is a must-see.

* Release dates may change, so keep checking the press for details.
