Tuesday, July 01, 2008

Get comfortable in your couches with your popcorn and soda, because TEENage is about to take you on a journey down prom lane, where the excitement of the prom experience is made available to you through movies. TEENage now presents the Top TEEN prom movies of all time.

5 A Cinderella Story: This is a modern remake of the classical fairytale Cinderella, starring Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. However, instead of the standard glass slipper, the movie entails a cellphone being left behind by the mysterious prom beauty Samantha Montgomery. Samantha finds out that her text mate is one of the most popular guys at school, but was fearful to reveal her identity because she was a 'nobody'. Since both her parents had died, she struggles with life, living with her stepmother and two stepsisters. In the end she receives her 'happily ever after' when she claims the right to her father's assets and is accepted by her prince charming.

4 10 Tthings I Hate About You: Starring in this romantic comedy are actors Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The new guy at school Cameron, likes the young beauty Bianca. However, she cannot date anyone until her older sister Kat, starts dating. Patrick Verona the outsider, is paid to take out Kat so that her sister will be able to date. Kat falls in love with Patrick and eventually finds out about the plot during the prom. The movie ends with the typical 'guy-gets-girl' scene, where Patrick eventually wins her heart.

3 Sixteen Candles: Samantha Baker, played by Molly Ringwald, struggles to get through her sixteenth birthday which her entire family forgets because her older sister is getting married the next day. To make the situation worse, she is forced by her grandparents to take her geeky foreign-exchange student as her date for the prom. The movie ends after she shares a kiss with her crush over a birthday cake with sixteen candles.

2 She's All That: The 1999 sentimental TEEN drama tells the story of a high school stud (Freddie Prince Jr) who makes a bet with his friends that he can turn a nerdy unpopular girl into the school's prom queen. The transformation process was more than a success as in the end he himself falls in love with her.

1 Never Been Kissed: In this 1999 film, Drew Barrymore plays a 25-year-old copy editor who is sent undercover on her first assignment at a local school for her story. She battles with her own geeky high school past before being made popular by her own brother who is also a part of the act. She falls in love with her English teacher, who eventually finds out about her secret identity which was revealed during the prom. She attempts to reclaim her love when she anxiously awaits him in the middle of a baseball field to greet her with her first kiss.
