He dared Jamaica and the result was extraordinary. In fact Shaggy was quite happy that all the 'dear tickets sell off first'.
Short and spicy was the mode for all the performances at the Shaggy and Friends I Dare You concert, and they were just what the doctor ordered.
The lawns of Jamaica House last Saturday was filled to capacity.

| Tony Rebel got the venue rocking to the Spanish version of If Jah Is Standing By My Side. |
With a stellar line-up of the best local acts and a few overseas superstars, the concert was a success on all levels. Even more so as everyone from the prime minister to the average nine-to-five worker and caring foreigners came out to support the cause.
The man of the moment Orville 'Shaggy' Burrell opened the concert and as usual the audience came to life when he took the stage. He performed a short set to make way for veteran reggae artiste Tony Rebel, who received resounding applauses from the audience, which he had mesmerised with hits such as If Jah Is Standing By My Side, which he did in English and Spanish. Tessanne Chin then took the stage and performed Messenger, and the crowd loved her performace as she reiterated that "This is for the children and they are our future so it is up to us to take care of them".
Rising Star sensation Christopher Martin took the stage and performed two songs. The crowd went into a frenzy when he crooned Take My Wings, and he held their undivided attention until he exited. Arguably the best thing that has happened to reggae music, the astounding Tarrus Riley was next on stage while he performed four pieces. The crowd had an insatiable appetite for more great music.
Shaggy took the stage again and gave the crowd something more to smile about as he reeled out the blasts from the past oldies but goodies such as Carolina and Summertime with Ravon.
Multi-platinum superstar Sean Paul was next on stage and kept the crowd going with hits like Give It Up to Me and Never Gonna Be The Same.
The performance of the night went to the Queen of Soca, Allison Hinds from Barbados. With the intro Roll It, she brought the house down and the crowd went into overdrive as she continued to provide soca hits and a work-out for them with her waist line.
Da'Ville was next on stage and performed three songs, none more welcoming than his duet with Marcia Griffiths on All My Life. As he exited the stage, Marcia charmed the crowd with I Feel The Fire Burning. The man from Big Ship, Freddie McGregor was next on stage and when Push Comes To Shove, the crowd was more than pleased.
Shaggy came on stage yet again and to the crowd's delight performed Hope That Keeps Me Holding On and Angel. Luciano was next on stage and the crowd was singing every word of Lord Give Me Strength and Sweep Over My Soul.
Etana followed and she effortlessly commanded the crowd's attention with her sultry voice on Warrior Love, I Am Not Afraid and Roots.
"We are doing this for the children, they are our tomorrow. This is for a good cause and I'm glad to be a part of it," was Etana's reason for participating in the concert.
The patrons too were all about supporting the cause as Candiese Thomas says, "I love doing stuff for people and I admire what Shaggy is doing for the children."
Morgan Heritage, Buju Banton and Macy Gray followed Etana and were excellently backed by Edna-alum C-Sharp and Dean Fraser. Gramps from Morgan Heritage along with Buju gave a soulful performance of The Lord's Prayer. Macy Gray did I'm So Glad You're Here, Sweet Sweet Baby, Goodbye and I Choke, as she got the crowd involved. Driva and Rasta Liberate The People were well received by the crowd.
Queen of the Dancehall Lady Saw did a short stint which included Pray For and I'm No Less Of A Woman as she made way for the energy god Elephant Man. The crowd again went into overdrive and a further frenzy as they did the Gully Creeper, Sweep, and Nuh Linga.
It was great music, food, drink and company all night. Money well spent on the best possible cause, TEENage was more than happy to be a part of an excellent event that benefits the children of this country. A hearty thank you to the Shaggy and Friends Foundation for this sincere and selfless gesture.
