Hair flair

The number one rule for a graduation ball is that you need to look perfect - as a matter of fact you need to look more than perfect, you need to look flawless!
Last week we looked at tips for choosing your ball dress, accessories and make-up. This week, thanks to CT Styles, we are 'styled and happy' as we take a look at some hairstyles for ball.

Jodi is wearing the quick and easy 'up and down flip' that is simple yet elegant for any occasion. Her sweep at the front falls gently into her face without covering too much.

Located at 9 West Kings House Road, CT Styles is the four-year-old salon with an expert team to complete your look by giving you the hair to make you. flawless.

Head stylist and owner Charmaine Thompson describes perfect hair as the final touch to enhance your outfit. With the slogan, "styled and happy", Charmaine has worked with Rosina Casserly and Brittany Lyons and completed looks for weddings, graduations, ball nights and everyday wear.

With so many different types of hair and so many options to alter it, it is a good idea to think about what you would like to do with your hair before going into the salon for styling. Whether short and sassy, down and flowing, half and half, casually messy or the classic updo, getting it right is what's important. Also another option is adding extensions.

Kimberley's long hair has been put in a half up half down pinned curl style. This style adds a touch of elegance to complete her look.

Although this is not the best choice for everybody, it can give hair a whole new look without having to wait for natural hair to grow. If you plan to go this route though, ensure that you choose the right type and length hair and the right style.

It is also important to consider the style and design of your dress, to ensure that your hair will compliment it perfectly. For example, if your dress has embellishments along the shoulders or at the top back it isn't the best idea to leave your hair out, especially if your hair is longer than shoulder length.

Long hair would hide the beauty of the dress, (and your hair can also get caught in the intricate designs and rhinestones of your dress), while an elegant updo would compliment your dress and complete your look perfectly. If your dress is strapless, you have the option of up or down, since your dress won't be covered at all.

Angela has bouncy curls that are neatly pinned back with a few pieces falling into her face. This completes her casually messy look.

After choosing a hairstyle that compliments your dress and your hair type, Charmaine suggests adding accessories to your hair.

"You don't necessarily need to go out and buy accessories either" she says, "Some accessories can be made from things that are relatively inexpensive or are already lying around your house." One accessory that she suggests is the hair pin flower. These can be made by attaching fake flowers to hair pins, quite simple! Other accessories that she suggests are sprinkling gold or silver glitter onto the parts of your updo or a simple tiara.

A beacon of male success
