There are many misconceptions that men have about women that are just that, misconceptions — views and opinions they have held onto for years that have caused them to treat women with disrespect or view them as a lesser gender.

While there are times when women have been guilty of giving men the wrong impression about who they really are, some of the beliefs are nothing more than myths. And despite the fact that men may have grown up hearing or believing these things, women will be the first to admit that they are nowhere close to the truth.

Here are some of those myths that men say they believe.

1. What the men say:

"Women are weak."

What the women say:

"Some women may be physically weaker compared to some men, but they tend to be stronger emotionally, and often handle painful situations much better than men do."

2. What the men say:

"Women are never satisfied."

What the women say:

"Of course women can be satisfied. We are no different in our needs than men. And if they can be satisfied why do they think we can't be? Sometimes it takes very little to satisfy women. Some of us may just require a little more!"

3. What the men say:

"It takes a lot to take care of a woman."

What the women say:

"There are women who fall into the high maintenance category, those who love the high society living and you have to cater to their very expensive tastes in order to keep them. But not all women fall into this category. A man should just get with a woman he can afford to support."

4. What the men say:

"Women want to control men."

What the women say:

"We really don't want to control our men. In fact, women in general like a 'take-charge' man. The problem is that when he does not take control of situations, she will order him to do it or is forced to do it herself. That is why they brand us as wanting to control them."

5. What the men say:

"Women are jealous and possessive."

What the women say:

"It only appears that way because men are such constant cheaters that it makes us insecure. And if you find a good man you will do anything to try to keep him."

6. What the men say:

"Women are too emotional."

What the women say:

"We really are emotional, but so are men. It's just that we tend to show our emotions more while many of them feel it is not macho to show theirs. I just don't believe it is fair to say we are too emotional."

7. What the men say:

"Women tie down men."

What the women say:

"This is not true. Women just want you to share your freedom with us. And what we can't do together is just not right for the relationship. Men who believe we want to tie them down just want to have their cake and eat it at the same time."

8. What the men say:

"Women are desperate to get married."

What the women say:

"Really? Have they checked how many single women are out there by choice? Have they checked how many have been proposed to over and over and refused? Many women now-a-days are so independent and career-driven that they are not anxious to be bogged down with added responsibilities."

9. What the men say:

"Women are the ones who should look after the house and kids."

What the women say:

"Obviously men who say this are not aware of what the family unit is. Women are out working as much as they are and therefore need equal help in the house and with the kids."

10. What the men say:

"Women are bad drivers."

What the women say:

"No, we are not. We are very careful drivers. That's why people will hunt the classified section to find vehicles up for sale that say 'lady driven'!"

11. What the men say:

"Women drivers do not give 'blighs'."

What the women say:

"Those who are still saying this are those who are not drivers themselves."

12. What the men say:

"Women have to be in love with you to have sex."

What the women say:

"Women will have better sex if they are in love with you, but many women are having sex with men they do not love. They do it for various reasons — to keep their relationship, to get money, and to satisfy their own sexual urges."

13. What the men say:

"Women are less interested in sex than men."

What the women say:

"Depends on which women. Some women truly love sex, some are even addicted, but they know how to control their sexual urges and not sleep around with every Tom, Dick and Harry."

14. What the men say:

"Women chat too much!"

What the women say:

"No, women just express themselves more. That is why you have so much more mad men than women roaming the streets, and why the prisons are so full of men. We talk about things bothering us while men keep it all in 'til it drives them crazy!"

15. What the men say:

"Women are only good for sex and having babies."

What the women say:

"We are good at sex and we are good for having babies yes, it's part of our role. But check out the workforce and educational institutions and see how many women are leaders? Women add a great percentage to the gross domestic product of the country, maybe even more so than men."

16. What the men say:

"All women want to have children."

What the women say:

"Not true. Many women do not want to have children. Why you think doctors are making money from abortions? Because many women do not wish to have children. But if they do want to, it's their right."

17. What the men say:

"Women can't make up their minds."

What the women say:

"Women make decisions every day. Decisions that keep their families and even their men secure and prosperous. That's why they are such good home-runners. That's why they excel in the workforce. It may seem they can't make up their minds at times but this is because women are good at looking at an issue from all sides and weighing the alternatives."
