AW readers have had front-row seats these past two weeks to Andrea 'Betty' Garvey's dramatic transformation. Garvey's makeover commenced at The Face Place with specific treatments selected by proprietor Marie Hall Smith, and continued with make-up artist extraordinaire Racquel Jenkins Moss-Solomon, owner of Racquel J Make-Up Studio in Kingston.

It's time for hair and wardrobe today and the final reveal so follow us to Lisa's Full Service Salon and Flirt Boutique.

The 'Do

It's true what they say, "The hair makes the woman", and who more capable to revitalise Garvey's tresses than Lisa Hutchinson, proprietor of the multi-award-winning Lisa's Full Service Salon? Hutchinson sat Garvey down in her chair for a consultation, examining her hair from scalp to root, to not only determine the treatment best suited to her, but to also find the style that would best bring out her naturally striking features. She decided, based on Garvey's angular bone structure, that a trendy pixie cut would work perfectly! Short at the back and sides of the head, with slightly longer strands on the top, the iconic, low-maintenance cut has been worn by some of the biggest, boldest, and bravest stars throughout history, and is ideal for a woman with a strong sense of self-confidence, like Garvey. Here's how she got the look!

1 Before making the cut, Garvey's hair was shampooed, set on curlers, and dried.

2 With her hair dry, and the curlers removed, Hutchinson was able to see the full extent of Garvey's split ends.

3 Garvey's locks were shaped into her new style by first cutting the perimeter of the hair at the front, angling down at the temples and back up to just below the top of the ears on each side. A gentle curve was created at the back, starting at the neckline and continuing to a soft slope behind the ear, meeting the point where the front perimeter cut ended. Layers were created using nearly vertical cutting lines on the sides and back of the head.

4 Garvey's strands were then hot-curled and styled.

The Wardrobe

Feeling an extra boost of confidence from her gorgeous new hairdo, Garvey sauntered through the doors of the chic Flirt Boutique, where proprietor Jennifer Azan took on the role of stylist, making it her mission to up the ante on her usual, more casual, sense of style. It was important that the clothes not only suit Garvey's personality, but that the overall look was one she would be able to maintain thereafter. She modelled three looks for our lens, for three very different types of occasions. We invite you to enter Garvey's new closet!
