Dr Patrice Charles-Freeman, executive director of the National Parenting Commission, is reminding parents, guardians, and caregivers that they must play a fundamental role in the lives of your children.

She said it is by the quality of nurturing and socialisation that is provided that a child's future success or failure will be determined.

It is therefore the parents' responsibility to show their children that they care enough to get involved and stay involved during their formative years, during school and even throughout adulthood.

Charles-Freeman reminds parents that it is also very important to get involved with their children's schools.
