As swimwear designer Jehan Jackson paused to contemplate a Pulse model wearing a bikini from her Vain Glory debut collection, the designer told All Woman, “My swimwear is for the confident, freespirited, bold woman.” Jackson, a textile design student at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (due to graduate any day now), said she was inspired to create a swimwear collection following her final-year show at the arts college. Jackson's show incorporated an Elizabethan theme and was a combination of two stages of life — infancy and childhood. Jackson, who handprinted and designed all the pieces herself, said, “While I studied textiles, I'm still trying to hone my craft and see how far I can go in fashion designing.”

On the up-and-coming designer's agenda is furthering her studies. “I want to do a Master’s in Fashion in either London or New York,” she shared. Of her Vain Glory swimsuit line, Jackson noted that she wanted a distinct feminine look and bright colours, hence the use of hot pink, peach, mustard yellow, purple, lilac and gold in the design line.

With Pulse’s newly crowned modelling stars raring to go on set at the picturesque Villa Ronai, AW features pieces from Jackson’s swimwear line, as well as beach-ready ensembles from The Mushroom and sharp looks for the style-conscious gent from Spokes Apparel.
