Vows - Our Endless Love
Horace Messado, financial controller at Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS), wed Dr Lisa-Gaye Thomas, resident in Paediatrics and Cardiology for Paediatrics at Detroit Medical Hospital, Michigan, on June 16 at the St Andrew Parish Church. Vows shares their special day.
Lisa-Gaye, daughter of Winsett Thomas, head of industrial relations at JPS, and Emma Thomas, member relations manager at COK Co-operative Credit Union, met Horace at the JPS Christmas party in 2009. Immediately smitten by Lisa-Gaye, Horace described the meeting as 'love at first sight'. "I watched intent ly from across the room for some time before developing the courage to approach her," he shared with Vows. He introduced himself to Lisa-Gaye's father and immediately invited her to dine with him but she flatly refused. Not fazed by the first rejection, Horace again approached Lisa-Gaye, this time inviting her to dance. Again she refused, but after a nudge from mum Emma, she eventually accepted Horace's invitation. The two spent the rest of the evening dancing and talking. Their relationship grew steadily and the couple got engaged on November 18, 2011, during a romantic dinner at Sandals Montego Bay's Oleander Room, one of their favourite restaurants.
The ceremony took place at the landmark St Andrew Parish Church, which was beautifully decorated with orchids by Pussbackfoot's Aiesha Panton. The wedding commenced with the arrival of the bridal party — Dr Kelly Fletcher, Keri-Leigh Radcliffe, Dr Zanele Balang, Dr Kasonya Guerra, and maid of honour Jessica Lawman — outfitted in chic one-shoulder salmon dresses by Jorge Perez, each clutching a bouquet of pink roses. Not to be outdone, the groomsmen were smartly attired in black Ralph Lauren suits.
Lisa-Gaye's grand entrance was signalled by the strains of Ave Maria played by Audley Davidson. She was reminiscent of Cinderella, clad in a beautiful beaded, Jorge Perez corset gown. Her hair was elegantly swept back — thanks to Modern Image Hair Salon with make-up by Kimberly Patterson. She clutched a bouquet of white roses, as she gracefully made her way up the aisle on the arm of dad Winsett Thomas, to meet her future husband, who stood dapper in a tailored Ralph Lauren suit.
The ceremony which included the unity candle ceremony was officiated by the Venerable Winston M Thomas, Archdeacon of Mandeville, and Reverend Noel Hann.
The reception followed at the Wyndham Kingston, where Aiesha Panton and her team impressively transformed the Grand Independence Ballroom into an elegant dining wonderland — think pink and white roses, orchids, Swarovski crystals and hydrangeas. Each table was named after a restaurant where the newly-weds had previously dined, such as: The Oleander Room, Mosaic, The Terrace, Café Eurasia and Fogo de Chao. Guests enjoyed a four-course meal courtesy of the Wyndham Kingston, to the soothing musical selections of Touch of Elegance. The couple then cut their four-tier Selena Wong-created traditional fruitcake, ahead of their first dance to Endless Love by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross. Guests then made their way to the dance floor to celebrate with the newly-weds. The couple honeymooned at Sandals Negril.
