VOWS: Wedding in Paradise

Monday, July 30, 2012

Former Jacksonville Jaguars American football star, Reggie Williams Jr, wed belle Brandie Wilkins in an impressive Island Paradise ceremony on the beachfront of Beaches Ocho Rios (formerly Boscobel) recently.

The wedding ceremony, performed under overcast skies which did not dampen the joyous occasion, had all the splendour of the resort's Island Paradise theme, including a wedding arch adorned with fabulous mokara orchids. The bride, resplendent in an elegant taupe off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline dress was surrounded by her bridesmaids adorned in stunning turquoise, fuchsia, mustard and purple. Notable wedding guests included groomsmen NFL players Khalif Barnes, offensive tackle with the Oakland Raiders and Bobby McCray. The groom and his men wore complementary day suits and the couple's son found the bridal party as all three participated in the traditional sand ceremony. Sixty guests attended the wedding which was performed by husband-and-wife pastor team Raymond and Leola Stewart from the Restoring Hope International , Houston, Texas in the presence of the local marriage officer.

On a personal note to Wedding Manager, Kamesha Dennisur, the new Mrs. Williams gushed, "The wedding was amazing. As a little girl, I always dreamed of my special day but never did I imagine such a beautiful day. I truly thank you.... You and your Beaches/Sandals family will have a friend for life. See you next year!"

Following their 'I do's', the couple was treated to a touch of drama as divers emerged from the turquoise waters, bearing a chest laden with treasures including a crystal engraved plaque proclaiming "Congratulations Reggie and Brandie Williams", courtesy of the resort's management and staff. The reception was also a lavish affair at the resort's swanky Venetian Terrace. The groomsmen and bridesmaid limbo-danced under poles as dancers blew balls of fire heralding Reggie and Brandie's grand entrance.

Willams had last year chosen Sandals Negril as the perfect location to ask Brandie the most important question... "Will you marry me?" With the help of the resort's romance experts, Williams arranged for a romantic helicopter ride over the island's famed seven-mile beach. While the couple soared through the sky, Sandals team members arranged bamboo adorned with shells and tropical flowers, to spell out the proposal — "B, will you marry me" — along the beach. Brandie looked down and promptly said "Yes". The couple honeymooned at Beaches Ocho Rios, occupying the famous Prime Minister Penthouse one-bedroom suite with an ocean view.
