The relaxed atmosphere, complete with a spacious outdoor dining area, lures customers to Daily Perc Café. Nestled at 23 Haining Road, New Kingston, the two-month old café was born out of a love affair with Jamaican coffee. "I usually drink a lot of Jamaican coffee, especially when I was in the States," explained Jamaican-born businessman Devon Campbell, who operates three salons in New York, where he has lived for the last 15 years.
It was natural, then, that when he decided to undertake investments in Jamaica, his first choice was to open a café. Campbell further told Thursday Life, "Jamaicans love their coffee, regardless of the time of day, and we have what is widely regarded as the best coffee in the world. When I thought about what investment I would make in Jamaica, Daily Perc was the perfect choice."
Breakfast is served promptly from 7:00 am Monday to Saturday, with a suitable menu that includes a variety of omelettes, sandwiches, paninis, wraps, egg choices, pastries, smoothies, and, of course, hot and cold coffee beverages, which are served throughout the day. And with the favourable word-of-mouth advertisng from which the café has benefitted, the seats are gradually filling up. "The reception has been great. Customers have taken a liking to our menu and they love the environment," Campbell shared.
What's more, the spacious outdoor area, outfitted with comfortable gazebos and attractive palm trees, is ideal for business meetings, lunches and other small functions. Much like the Happy Hour lymes — Thursdays to Saturdays from 5:00 pm to midnight — it's a great place to unwind after a long day, or if you just want to chill with your friends over a snack and some drinks. There are, too, plans afoot to incorporate a crab night into the menu, and to open a branch of the café in Montego Bay, Dunn's River Falls and Reach Falls, as well as long-term plans to expand outside of Jamaica.
