Wine & Dine with Sushi
Thursday, November 03, 2011
The Majestic Sushi and Grill at Villa Ronai, Old Stony Hill Hill Road, was two Mondays ago the venue for a taste of Japan. The event, hosted by Majestic and J Wray and Nephew Limited, offered guests the opportunity to sip and savour the different tastes of wine and sushi. With The Jamaica Observer's Salut! Wine and Champagne celebration from November 7 - 12, the Japanese eatery provided an intimate setting for guests to whet their appetites with wines from France and Spain. The menu for the night included eight different dishes, each served with a different wine. As such foodies were able to pair various wines with different dishes and make their judgements at the end of the evening. Brand manager for imported wines at J Wray and Nephew Limited, Raihn Sibblies — who was also on the panel of persons who had tasted each dish with the various wines before finalising the menu — told Thursday Food that, "the concept is really to get persons to appreciate wine with different tastes. Presenting wine and sushi in a different way by pairing them and have guests decide which pairings were a hit or miss spurring conversation and possibly a greater appreciation." Thursday Food shares scenes from the event.
