Winners Circle - December 20
Thursday, December 20, 2012
Select Brands Marketing Manager, wines, Debra Taylor (second right), shares a moment with winners of the Thursday Life Branded competition (from left) Noleta Case, Terry-Ann Langshaw, Rosalind Edwards and Deanne Robinson and Jamaica Observer Managing Director Danville Walker. Taylor presented gift baskets of Select Brands' extensive wine portfolio in the Observer's boardroom last Tuesday. The selection of wines presented in the gift baskets (which also included wine glasses and candy) were Santa Margheruta Pinot Grigio, Verdi Raspberry Sparkling Wine, Woodbridge Chardonnay, Hardys Merlot, Lamothe Parrot sweet red wine and Sperone Moscato Rosé.
Delighted to make Taylor's acquaintance, our Thursday Life winners quizzed her about how to determine the quality of taste in wines; which wines were best suited for diabetics to sip; and when she planned to resume co-hosting a wine-related programme on radio. The marketing manager, who came armed with her killer smile and complimentary wine catalogues, gave the curious winners an informative crash course in wine varietals and encouraged them to enjoy at least one glass of wine a day. "It's good for you," she declared, "and it helps me out too."
Winners Shanna Gay McFarlane and Jermaine Spence were missing from the presentation.
The question posed last week to readers was: How old is Select Brands?
The correct answer: 14 months.
