Total Summerbell Racing takes Dover Independence of Speed
BY RORY DALEY
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Total Summerbell Racing (TSR) racked up the accolades at last Sunday’s Independence of Speed held at Dover raceway, St Ann.
The trio, David Summerbell Jr, Kyle Gregg, and Andre Anthony Anderson, not only swept their respective classes, but also collectively took home 10 podium spots (eight of which were first place), a new class lap record, and the meet championship trophy.
“This is great for TSR,” Summerbell Jr declared at Tuesday’s award ceremony.
Gregg reset the Dover Raceway front-wheel drive lap record with his Honda Civic during qualifying, and amassed enough points to tie with Summerbell Jr for race meet champion.
“Kyle and Andre are as best a teammates you could want,” Summerbell Jr praised his TSR team members.
He also commented on Anderson’s retirement from the final Thundersport race of the day.
“Honestly, if Andre hadn’t had that camshaft sensor failure and finished the race he would be up here accepting this trophy, not us,” said Summerbell.
The day was a mixed bag for ATL Automotive’s Natasha Chang, who severed notice on current Modified Production class standard Tarik Minott with two-second place finishes. Unfortunately, a mishap left the Honda Civic injured and unable to compete in all its scheduled races.
