Digicel Jamaica appoints new CEO

Digicel has appointed a new head of its operations in Jamaica.
Andy Thorburn will take over from Mark Linehan, who is to be go on to oversee operations in Grenada, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines, after four years at the helm in Jamaica.
Thorburn focus will be on continuing to deliver best value and service to customers, said a release from the company.
"In addition, Andy (Thorburn) will continue to both develop and drive Digicel's business solutions capabilities and fixed line opportunities on the back of the potential opening up of that market to competition," it said.
A telecoms and communications industry veteran with over 30 years of telecoms and IT sector experience, Thorburn brings extensive senior management experience across a number of successful global businesses, including Intec Telecom, BT Group and Siemens Business Services.
Linehan has been with Digicel for almost its entire 11-year existence.
During his four years as CEO of Digicel Jamaica, the customer base grew to over two million subscribers and a number of innovative new technologies were launched including 4G Mobile and 4G Broadband.
Digicel Group claims over 12.8 million customers across its 30 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific.
