Construction worker rescued after roof caves in
BY EVERARD OWEN
PORT ANTONIO, Portland — Jason Campbell, 37, was yesterday rescued by officers from the Port Antonio Fire Department after he was trapped for two and a half hours under a caved-in roof.
Campbell was working on a construction site on Spring Bank Road when the concrete roof of the structure collapsed as the workers were removing the decking.
Another worker who was with Campbell said he heard a sound and ran, but Campbell did not move.
When rescue officials arrived, Campbell was heard calling for help.
The rescue team, headed by District Officer Raymond Goodlett, eventually broke the concrete and cut the steel to rescue Campbell.
He was taken to the Port Antonio Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
