Murders down 25% in St Catherine North, senior cop says

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Police from the St Catherine North Division are reporting a significant drop in murders between January 1 and May 31 this year compared to the corresponding period last year.

Head of the division Senior Superintendent Anthony Castelle told the Jamaica Observer that the “criminal element is on the back foot” due to several anti crime strategies that have been implemented.

He said that murders were down by just over 25 per cent.

"It is early days yet. That is no comfort for us and there is a lot more work to be done," said SSP Castelle.
