Mexican Ambassador to Jamaica Gerardo Lozano (right) gets a warm welcome from Jamaica Observer Managing Director Danville Walker, Wednesday, when he made a courtesy call on the newspaper. Looking on is Janice Lazarus, executive assistant to Walker. Ambassador Lozano, who began his three-year tour of duty in March this year, said his clear mandate is to improve the trade, cultural and technical links between Jamaica and Mexico. He suggested that downtown Kingston could benefit from the lessons learnt by Mexico City which has rehabilitated the downtown area of that capital city, making it a model today. He also announced that a major cultural band will visit Jamaica in celebration of Mexico’s National Day on September 15, 2012. (Photo: Joseph Wellington)
