Police recover guns, arrest 3BY HORACE HINES Observer staff reporter email@example.com
SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland — Three guns, including two which were stolen from the three security guards slain in Westmoreland a week ago, were recovered during police operations in the parish Tuesday morning.
Three persons, including a female, were also held in the raid, bringing to five, the number of persons taken into custody by members of the Westmoreland branch of the Criminal Investigation Branch in connection with the murders at Guardsman's Sheffield office.
According to an impeccable Jamaica Observer police source, a former Guardsman Limited employee who was recently fired was among the those apprehended during the operations in the communities of Three Miles River and Seaton Crescent, Savanna-la-Mar, both in Westmoreland.
In addition to the firearms, the police also retrieved items stolen from the three deceased, including telephones, credit and debit cards.
Meanwhile, a man who bought one of the stolen phones and subsequently surrendered to police, has been questioned and released.
Last week, swift action by members of the Westmoreland CIB led to the arrest of a security guard employed to Guardsman and one other man shortly after the three mutilated corpses were discovered at the security company. A supervisor stumbled upon the bodies of 33-year-old Bryan Morris, of Station Road, Little London, Westmoreland; 40-year-old Sylvia Beckford of Whitehouse, also in Westmoreland; and 31-year-old Judith McCauley, of Cardwell District in Green Island, Hanover, early Friday morning.
The bodies had multiple stab wounds, while one of the females had a gunshot wound. Morris, who reportedly also worked as a tourism courtesy corps officer, was found with his two hands handcuffed behind him.
Tuesday, senior investigators interviewed one of the initial detainees in the presence of his attorney.
