Shuttle service for Jamaica 50 National Arena celebrationsBY PAUL ALLEN Online reporter firstname.lastname@example.org
KINGSTON, Jamaica — People attending the Golden Jubilee Village at the National Arena are being urged to follow traffic arrangements and security procedures put in place by the Jamaica 50 Secretariat.
Visitors to the Village are asked to comply with the 'Park and Ride' system, which will see them leaving their vehicles at one of three locations and shuttled by bus to the venue, as parking will not be allowed in the vicinity of the National Arena, said Major Desmond Brown, general manager of Independence Park Limited.
The ‘Park and Ride’ system opens at 1:00pm and closes at 2:00am.
The three locations are Jamaica College (JC) on Hope Road, King’s House and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) headquarters at Up Park Camp.
King’s House and the JDF will be used on all days but JC will not be open on August 3rd (Wednesday) and August 4th (Thursday).
Buses will leave the locations every 10 to 20 minutes, Brown said.
People with disabilities are being asked to go to King’s House, where chairlifts and other special arrangements have been provided.
Properly identified parking attendants, medical personnel and tower lights for the night, have been put in place to ensure safety, he said.
The Golden Jubilee Village opens tomorrow (July 31) and goes until Sunday.
