St Ann residents benefit from US medical mission

ST ANN, Jamaica — Residents of communities in the Alexandria area of South West St Ann are this week benefiting from a medical and dental mission undertaken by a United States-based church group.

Bishop Craig Brown of the Holy Mount Zion Healing Tabernacle, which is based in Bronx, New York, said he was led to offer the medical and dental care to the residents after a vision he received from God over a year ago during a prayer breakfast at his church.

The Jamaican-born Bishop also handed over a quantity of medical supplies and equipment to the Alexandria Community Hospital during a ceremony at the facility yesterday evening.

"As Christians we are called to serve the underprivileged, under-served and the dispossessed, and with this calling in mind we have embarked upon this project and I want to assure you that this project is not just a one time mission," Bishop Brown told residents yesterday.

More than 30 people, including doctors, nurses, dentists and support staff are participating in the mission where clinics have been set up at the Aabuthnott Gallimore High school and Alexandria Community Hospital.
