Bolt v Blake part two begins todayPaul Reid
LONDON, England — The Usain Bolt vs Yohan Blake show part II will get underway this morning when the men's 200m competition begins at Olympic Stadium, Stratford, London.
The training partners traded friendly words after Sunday night's 100m final that saw Bolt winning in an Olympic record 9.63 seconds, the second fastest time ever run with Blake second in 9.75 seconds, equalling his personal best, which is the fourth fastest time ever.
Warren Weir, a teammate of Bolt and Blake at the Glen Mills-led Racers Track Club, is the third Jamaican in the event.
On Sunday Bolt told local journalists who waited over 90 minutes to interview him that the 200m was still his favourite event and the one he worked hardest on, raising his voice so Blake, who was about 20 yards away could hear him. "I told Yohan, the 200m is mine, this is my pet event and I am not giving it up."
Blake handed Bolt his first loss in the 200m in over six years in the final at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championship to complete a double over the double world record holder.
Bolt, whose world record is 19.19 seconds and a season-best of 19.83 seconds, will contest the heats this morning set to start at 11:50 UK time (5:50 am Jamaica time), while Blake, who is the world leader with 19.80 seconds, will contest heat number four.
Weir, who will be making his debut on a senior national team, has been drawn in a tough heat five and will go up against Panamanian World Championships silver medallist Alonzo Edwards.
