WEST Indies pacer Andre Russell took 4-45 to help restrict New Zealand to 190-9 off their allotted 50 overs in the opening Digicel One-Day International match at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Scores: New Zealand 190-9 (50 overs).

The West Indies won the toss and put in New Zealand to bat, but Russell dismissed Martin Guptill (1), Daniel Flynn (11) and Rob Nicol (14) to put the visitors in early trouble at 33-3.

Despite a 98-ball top score of 60 from BJ Watling, the ‘Kiwis’ were eventually held to 190-9.

Seamer Ravi Rampaul and off-spinner Sunil Narine supported Russell with two wickets each.

The West Indies will begin their run-chase shortly.
