CC old boys to build chapel at their alma mater

Thursday, August 02, 2012

MONTEGO BAY, St James — In an effort to enhance the moral and spiritual growth of the students at Cornwall College, the Old Boys' Association is busy making plans to build a chapel at the 116 -year -old educational institution.

The architectural drawings have so far been completed and ground is set to be broken in September for the facility during the school's homecoming celebrations.

According to a release from the Tampa Chapter of the Old Boys' Association, Principal of Cornwall College Denham McIntyre has already confirmed the appointment of Rev Kenroy Salter, as the school's chaplain.

"The primary role of the chaplain is to provide counselling to students who may be dealing with problems and who need help," said the release.

It said a fund raising programme has been established in North America and Jamaica by the old boys, in an effort to make the construction of the chapel a reality.

In addition to the chapel project, the Cornwall College Old Boys' Association is also planning to introduce solar energy at the institution in the near future which is expected to significantly reduce the cost of energy at the all- boys institution.
