KINGSTON, Jamaica - Tropical Storm Isaac is moving towards the west northwest at 22 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue today, with a gradual decrease in forward speed. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from its centre up to 390 kilometres.

On the forecast track, the centre of Isaac will move over the eastern Gulf of Mexico today and approach the northern Gulf coast in the hurricane warning area on Tuesday, the Meteorological Service says.

There is a broad trough over the western Caribbean and Jamaica resulting from the passage of Isaac.

This morning outbreaks of showers are expected in eastern and central parishes and spread across the entire island by afternoon.

Isaac is expected to be a hurricane in a day or two as it approaches the US coast.
