MINDLESS looters, who raided a crashed goods truck in Mount Rosser, St Catherine on Wednesday, have come in for strong condemnation from Jamaica Observer online readers. In a story published yesterday, the badly shaken truck driver complained that the looters only cared about emptying the vehicle of its contents rather than checking to see if he had been injured. Apart from stealing the majority of the goods -- which included energy drinks, salt fish, and cereal -- the looters also removed the front and back right wheels of the vehicle and emptied the gas tank. Here are some edited comments:

Here are some:

Peter Tosh

Welcome to third world. I don't mean the reggae group, I am speaking of the badly run country call Jamaica. Let them loose, Portia, let them loose. The Poor Never Prosper (PNP) country.

CHUCK EMANUEL 1st ORIGINAL

How long did it take the police to arrive on the scene? We are a "Christian" country. No wonder!

suzie

Demented losers; no concern as to the well being of the driver.

CeeCee

...Looting isn't a Jamaican thing... but it's sad nonetheless.

The Grand Inquisitor

JamaicanDawta

@The Grand Inquisitor: Try wiked and teef. Dem love use poor as euphemism fi teef... Nuff poor people have pride. Dem nuh teef.

niceladyjam

Stafford

Jamaica is certainly going through a very dark period... Are things that bad?

Sher-sher

@Stafford: Unfortunately they are.

Jahben

This is depravity as I have never seen. What have we become?

Dove

Wow! ...the people are like vultures prey on misadventures... not even the driver they checked on... good thing he did not die.

Sher-sher

@Dove: Maybe if he died they would have taken his clothes.

woodpecker

A failed state where the rule of law has long disappeared.
