Thursday, February 02, 2012
THE Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the death of an unidentified man who is only known as ‘Gary’ or ‘Crime.’
The police reported that they received certain information and as a result a team of officers went to a house at 55 Mall Road, Kingston 13.
Upon entering the premises, a man reportedly pointed a firearm at the officers.
The officers fired in the direction of the man who fell to the ground.
A .380 Beretta Pistol with a clearly visible serial number which contained four rounds of ammunition was retrieved from the injured man.
He was later taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police said. The scene was processed, the hands of the officers involved in the shooting were swabbed at the Hunts Bay Police Station and the body of the victim was processed at Maddens Funeral Home by the INDECOM Incident Scene Examiners.
The investigation is ongoing but so far, no witnesses have been identified.
Investigators are appealing to persons with information to call its offices at 968-8875.
