'Dog Paw' appeals sentence
REPUTED gang leader Christopher 'Dog Paw' Linton is appealing his prison sentence which was imposed in March following his conviction on gun and shooting charges.
Linton was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and shooting with intent.
In documents filed with the Court of Appeal yesterday, Linton is challenging his conviction and sentence on the ground that he had received an "unfair trial" and that the sentence delivered was "harsh and unreasonable".
His attorney Robert Fletcher is expected to make a more detailed filing on his behalf.
Linton, along with Micah Allen, was found guilty, in February of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm following a 2010 incident where two policemen travelling in a service car ere shot at in the Papine Area of St Andrew.
Allen also received the same sentence.
However, both men will spend 15 years behind bars as their sentences are to run concurrently.
