NEWS of the shooting and injury of a seven-year-old boy by gunmen in Lyssons, St Thomas, early Tuesday has angered Jamaica Observer online readers. Jahmauny Robinson was shot in the chest as gunmen sprayed the house with bullets while he, his nine-month-old brother and their mother slept. Some readers were heartened by the fact that a suspect has since been held by the police. Here are some edited comments posted in reaction to the story that was published yesterday:

Innocent little boy. I hope he recovers fully and it is times like this when you are left speechless especially when it is a child.

TM

My God, my God, what the hell is happening here? I hope they catch these animals soon. These animals are not normal, they need to be put down

Voice of Reason

I hope there is a hell!

Devon

Shame on these gunmen and shame on those who refused to help. It's so sad how Jamaica has become.

We need to take drastic action against these cold-blooded killers. Why we can't commence hanging, these brute beast continue to hurt the young and innocent. A bunch of cowards and losers.

Alessandro Ferrari

Hope Jahmauny will be okay! These cowardly criminals need to start face the gallows again. It is time we stop letting others dictate on whether we have hangings or not. Many civilised countries have the

death penalty.

@liqcocktails

Let's give thanks that this child is alive. What have we come to as a society where people go shoot up a house with children? When will this Madness stop?

Dainty

How many more ...eeh? How many more have to die before it is enough?

Jordan Chase

The heart of man is so unkind. What evil besets us that we have to shoot up a house, especially where children reside?
