KINGSTON, Jamaica – Simone Facey of P360 claimed her first national senior 200-metre crown when she sprinted to a 22.65-second win on the final day of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium on Sunday.
With MVP Track Club representative’s Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce missing from their lanes for the finals, Facey cashed in on the advantage and produced a late burst to get by Veronica
Campbell-Brown (22.80s) in a headwind of 3.1 metres per second. Kali
Davis-White (22.94s) was third.
No reason was given for the absence of national 100m champion Thompson and World and Olympic champion Fraser-Pryce.
However, both athletes should still be eligible for a spot in the
event at the Rio Olympics.
