‘Pim Pim’ gets bail
Thursday, January 19, 2012
AN associate of dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel was on Monday offered $200,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
Andre ‘Pim Pim’ Henry is implicated in a conspiracy to thwart investigations into the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, with whose murder the jailed artiste and five other men have been charged.
The 23-year-old studio engineer of Mannings Hill in St Andrew was arrested last Thursday and charged with perverting the course of justice.
It is being alleged that he contracted Portmore Empire artiste Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler to make a report to the police that she had been robbed by Clive Williams. Williams’ murder was, in fact, committed before the date of the alleged robbery and the prosecution is contending that the report was made in order to give the impression that Williams was not dead.
Saddler and Vybz Kartel are also charged with perverting the course of justice. All three are to return to court on February 1.
Henry was offered bail by Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey, following a bail application by his attorney Ravil Golding. In making his application, Golding challenged reports by the prosecutor that his client had been on the run.
The police also did not oppose bail for Henry, who is to report to the Constant Spring Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays and surrender his travel documents with a stop order in place.
Williams was allegedly beaten to death at Vybz Kartel’s home on August 16 last year over the disappearance of two firearms.
Along with Vybz Kartel, the others charged with Williams’ murder are Andre St John, Kahira Jones, Portmore Empire artiste Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell, designer Calvin Hay, and Shane Williams.
The six are scheduled to return to the Home Circuit Court on February 17. Hay was on Friday offered $1-million bail in the High Court.
