2 guns seized by police

THE police have successfully removed two illegal firearms from the nation’s streets following operations in Clarendon and St Andrew yesterday.
A homemade handgun was seized along the Treadlight Main Road in Clarendon yesterday morning.
One man was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The May Pen Police said that about 10:00 am, a team of officers was on patrol in the area when a man was stopped and searched and the firearm was found in his possession.
The man has since been taken into custody. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Hunts Bay Police yesterday seized a firearm during an operation at York Avenue, St Andrew. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
The police said about 9:30 am, an operation was conducted in the area, during which a Toyota Camry motor car was searched and the firearm — a .38 Smith and Wesson Revolver with serial number erased — was seized.
Investigations continue.
