KINGSTON, Jamaica – Thirty police officers will undergo training as school resource officers as the Ministry of Education and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) strive to reduce violence in schools.
Director of Safety and Security in School, Coleridge Minto, told OBSERVER ONLINE Tuesday that there has been a general decline in critical incidents at schools over the last three years.
He added that the training programme is to build capacity, ensuring that adequate preparations are in place for September so that the downward trend can continue.
The training seminar is slated to be held at the Jamaica Theological Seminary on Wednesday.
Education Minister Ronald Thwaites is expected to deliver the keynote address while Minto will speak to the partnership between the Ministry of Education and the JCF.
